About the artist

22-year-old Tarik Mishlawi was raised in Arizona and then moved to Cascais in Portugal with his family as a teenager. He returned for university in Washington and then moved on to London. In 2014 he dropped ‘Street Jargon Freestyle’ on YouTube and SoundCloud, and was discovered by Bridgetown Records. His track ‘All Night’ sampling the American jazz-fusionist Chick Corea, melds Latin with Trap. At the end of last year Mishlawi dropped ‘Afterthought’, featuring and produced by US artist Trace Nova. His track ‘Limbo’ has over a million Spotify listens and ‘Always On My Mind’ has 3 million views on YouTube. He is currently working on his debut mixtape, due out later this year.
