About Michael Alan Scott

Over a backdrop of distorted guitar textures, ambient swells, and group harmonies, Michael Alan Scott is documenting his coming of age. With a refreshing candor, the 21-year-old reflects across the timeline of his life, from his childhood in Marietta, Georgia to issues of modern young adulthood: decoding social media, being shaped by the city you're in, and the bitterness of growing apart from people you love. The son of a vocalist father and pianist mother, Michael was raised on the music they played at church and school, along with his dad's Southern rock favorites like the Allman Brothers Band. After years of playing shows with his high school band 99 Corolla, he moved to Nashville to pursue his solo career full-time. Following a string of singles released throughout 2020, Michael released "The Dark Can Be A Beautiful Place" EP the following year - an earnest, indie folk-rock project that showcased Michael's evolution as a songwriter. Michael continues to thrive in the Nashville music scene, landing a slot at this year's Bright Shade Music Festival and lending himself on guitar to other artists for shows at venues like Radio City Music Hall and the Greek. Evoking imagery of sitting around a campfire, or setting out on a road trip with friends, Michael creates music that's meant to be shared, experienced, and shouted in a crowd. -Sabrina Song michaelalanscottmusic@gmail.com -Photos by Tyler Krippaehne, Taylor Kelly, and Connor Peterson
