About the artist

Manito Nation is an international DJ, producer, and performing artist from Cap-Haïtien, Haïti. His music blends modern takes on African sounds, Vodou rhythms, and Taïno roots, coining a new genre of Caribbean sounds, Rara-tech. Through his work, he creates musical narratives that invoke histories, memories, and culture, honoring Haitian legacies. Manito Nation has created a platform for a new generation of Haitians to tell their stories through sound, particularly through the spiritual use of Tambou (drums), revitalizing these ancient rhythms in contemporary forms. Amid ongoing political turmoil, his annual festival, DEKONEKTE (disconnect), has become a ritual of community and a cornerstone event in the region, drawing over 8,000 people each year. Beyond the music, DEKONEKTE programming serves as an important educational and community-building space, offering local youth the chance to connect, learn, and create opportunities that encourage storytelling through sound. Through his art and activism, Manito Nation continues to uplift the spirit of the Haitian revolution and empower future generations.
