About the artist

South Londoner, Lu Wright’s has shared her five track debut EP ‘Notes To Self’. Lu Wright's breathy, jazzy tones rest beautifully between soul and R&B. The artist grew-up in a home filled with music, listening to everything from the classic soul/jazz maestros of the 50's and 60's, like Nina Simone and Sam Cooke, to noughties RnB and Hip Hop outfits such as Outkast, Eminem, Rihanna and Amy Winehouse. This is where her love for songwriting and melody truly began. 'Notes to self', is a body of work that radiates warmth and a magnetic energy, woven together in a narrative that tells of the vulnerability and the solitary venture of self-discovery as a young woman. Previous features are as follows: “A song that fuses inner strength with an awareness of our limitations, 'British Daisy' pushes melody to the fore” – Clash Picking up where its predecessor left off, “What I Like” is a smoky, R&B-pop fusion that looks at what her life is like post-breakup – COMPLEX “The song stuns with sturdy, soulful vocals gracefully floating atop classic soundscapes of soothing horns and gentle drums” – Earmilk “Lovely” displays the singer’s effortlessly sweet vocals and sun-drenched jazz sounds as we are taken on a journey of personal emotional reflection by the south London artist as she works towards positivity - Wonderland
