Lena Chamamyan is a Syrian-Armenian singer-songwriter renowned for her unique vocal style, which masterfully fuses jazz, Arabic folk music, Western classical music, and traditional Armenian melodies. She is celebrated for her ability to blend folkloric music with modern arrangements, creating a distinctive sound often described as oriental jazz. Chamamyan's music is known for its poetic lyrics and draws inspiration from diverse genres, including Portuguese fado and Spanish-Andalusian flamenco, and she sings in multiple languages, including Arabic, Armenian, Syriac, English, French, and Italian. She is also one of the few Eastern women who writes, composes, produces, plays instruments, and sings her own work. Regarding her latest endeavors, Lena Chamamyan is preparing for a significant concert titled "Mates" in Cairo, Egypt, on June 26, 2026, which will also mark the launch of her highly anticipated album, "Sahab"—her first in nearly ten years. She recently worked on new music while recovering from a car accident, a period she notes often inspires her most authentic creations. Her recent material, including the collection of songs "Hannah and Blossoms," written during her exile in Paris, conveys powerful messages of life, hope, and peace, reflecting her experiences as a Syrian woman. In 2021, Chamamyan released "Tariq El Shams," a song and music video addressing regional conflicts in the Middle East and celebrating resilience. Beyond her performances, she actively contributes to cultural projects such as cataloging Syrian music and producing the radio program Douzana, and she is currently leading initiatives to revisit folk music in various Arab countries. She is also slated to return to the Arab World Festival, promising a "sensory odyssey" that explores themes of everyday life, the nostalgia of exile, and unwavering hope.
