Delhi native KK—short for Krishnakumar Kunnath—is a popular and prolific Bollywood playback singer. ∙ KK sang 3,500 commercial jingles in 11 different Indian languages before making his playback singing debut on the A. R. Rahman soundtrack for 1996’s Prema Desam. ∙ His 1999 solo debut, Pal, spawned the hit power ballad “Pyaar Ke Pal,” which remained a top-selling song in 2020 on India’s iTunes Top 100 Alternative Songs chart. ∙ At the 2009 Screen Awards, which honor excellence in Indian films, KK won Best Male Playback Singer for “Khuda Jaane,” from the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno. ∙ In 2012, he won the Eenam-Swaralaya Singer of the Year Award for his Malayalam language songs.
