Jonny was born in Massachusetts, USA but grew up in Winchester, UK. He trained as an actor at the Drama Centre but switched to music professionally after a motorcycle accident in Laos that left him unable to walk for two years. Jonny formed indie band Montrell in 2019, with whom he toured Europe to a cult following and sold home made chilli sauce, eventually winning praise from Elton John for his song 'Simpler in the Dark'. Jonny played the Alternative Escape festival in Brighton in May 2025 and prepares to release new music under his own name with an exciting new team!
