Joe Ariwa is a British record producer, sound engineer, and DJ, recognized as a leading figure in the new generation of dub music, following in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Mad Professor. Emerging from Ariwa Studios, he blends traditional 1970s and 80s dub with digital and contemporary influences, incorporating elements from UK hip hop, garage, jungle, and two-step into his distinctive sound, which spans genres like dub, jungle, dub techno, roots reggae, and reggae. He currently serves as the chief engineer, producer, and occasional tour manager at Ariwa Sounds Ltd, utilizing both vintage and cutting-edge equipment to achieve a hybrid sound that maintains analog warmth while embracing digital flexibility. In 2022–2023, he relaunched the Ariwa Posse to support new talent. His recent musical endeavors include singles like "Revolution" (February 2024) with Abel Miller & I Jah, "Dub You Mind" (March 2024) with Kyla, and numerous releases in 2025 and 2026, such as "Where We Belong", "Champagne Body (Body Glamorous)", "Não Pega", "Culture Vulture", "Why Am I A Rastaman?", "Jah Love, Jah Light", and "Everytime I See My Baby". Notably, a vinyl release featuring "WHY AM I A RASTAMAN? / COMB HEAD DUB (7")" with I Jah was issued on Ariwa Sounds in May 2026. He also continues to perform live, with past appearances at festivals including BoomTown Fair and One Love Festival.
