Jackzebra (Zhang Zhengkai) is a Chinese rapper, singer, and record producer hailing from Shanghai and based in Chengdu, Sichuan, known for his distinctive blend of cloud rap, plugg, and trap music, often incorporating experimental electronic sounds. His style is characterized by "zealously Auto-Tuned slurring interlaced with atmospheric soundscapes," leading to comparisons with artists like Bladee, earning him the moniker "Chinese Bladee". After starting his musical journey in 2018, he transitioned from rapping in English to Mandarin in 2021, encouraged by Chinese cloud rap pioneer Bloodz Boi. He is a member of the American music collective and netlabel Surf Gang. In recent endeavors, Jackzebra performed his first U.S. show at UCLA on April 26, 2024. He released the mixtape "王中王" (King of Kings) on October 29, 2024, which received a 7.8 rating from Pitchfork. In 2025, he released the single "Givenchy" on June 13 and the mixtape "Hunched Jack" in December (also listed as October 3, 2025), which Pitchfork rated 7.4. Other 2025 releases included the "Above & Beyond" mixtape and singles such as "New Age," "Human," "HowManyDays? (jackzebra & DJ Ess Remix)," and "Locks Off". Most recently, on March 20, 2026, Jackzebra collaborated with Bloodz Boi to release their album titled "Bloodzebra". He has been recognized for his unique ability to achieve "simultaneous virality on both sides of the Chinese firewall" and is considered "the voice of post-industrial China".
