About Hania Derej

Hania Derej is a remarkably versatile Polish composer, pianist, and conductor, born in 2005. She is known for her eclectic musical style, blending jazz, neoclassical, electronic, illustrative, cinematic, chamber, pop, and soul genres. Currently, she is pursuing studies in jazz composition and arrangement at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and symphonic conducting at the Music Academy in Kraków. Derej has composed over 100 works and released several albums. Her Hania Derej Quintet's album "Evacuation" is scheduled for release on June 21, 2024, by the Dutch label ZenneZ Records, following the release of singles "Busy Day" and "FUNky Time," which gained traction on Spotify playlists. In March 2025, she released the electronic single "Matter Flow," a precursor to an upcoming album exploring electronic, ambient, neoclassical, and jazz sounds. Recognitions include being named "a new hope of Polish music" by Gazeta Wyborcza in 2025 and receiving the "Young Composer 2023" prize from the Polish Composers' Union and the Triton Award at FAMA Festival 2024. She also topped the "New Hope" category in JAZZTOP (Jazz Forum) in 2024 and was honored as a "Young Promoter of Poland" in 2025. Derej frequently performs at major festivals such as OFF Festival, Męskie Granie, and Pol'and'Rock. She also actively participates in international musical projects like FAMES Orchestra, The Playground Residence, and International Jazz Platform.
