Haluk Levent is a prominent Turkish rock singer, songwriter, and musician known for his distinctive blend of Anatolian rock, Turkish pop, and Arabesk. He played a significant role in the revival of the Anatolian rock genre in the 1990s. Throughout his career, which began with his debut album "Yollarda" in 1993, he has released numerous successful albums and is recognized for his deep and emotive lyrics, often incorporating Turkish folk elements. Beyond his musical endeavors, Levent is widely celebrated for his extensive humanitarian and philanthropic work, earning him the moniker "Benevolent Rocker." He founded the non-profit organization AHBAP (Foundation of Anatolian People and Peace Platform) in 2017, which has been instrumental in providing aid and support during various crises, including the devastating earthquakes in Turkey in 2023. His commitment to social causes, environmental awareness, and mutual aid has garnered him a wide sphere of influence. In recognition of his impactful work, Haluk Levent was listed as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2023. In recent news, Levent has continued his activism, notably speaking out against attacks on Gaza and addressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in May 2024. He also experienced a health scare in September 2025, being rushed to the hospital after a concert due to a stomach spasm caused by stress, from which he has since recovered. Additionally, in February 2024, there was public discussion around a verbal offer of candidacy from the CHP (Republican People's Party), which Levent clarified was not a formal written offer.
