About the artist

Golden Core are a Norwegian-Icelandic metal duo. Hailing from the Oslo-suburb of Ammerud, the band consists of Simen Jakobsen Harstad on guitars and amplifiers and Johannes Thor Sandal on vocals and drums. With Converge's Kurt Ballou on mixing and Blood Command's Yngve Andersen as producer, their 2019 album FIMBULTÝR is a monument to the young band's dazzling ambition and artistic vision. Not afraid to merge their ancestral heritage of Norse mythology with US-stoner rock and Norwegian black metal, Golden Core has chiselled out an album of undeniable quality and originality. Their latest album, KOSMOS BRENNER, (released in 2024) has been described as one of the most innovative, idiosyncratic and pitch-dark oddities of the metal genre, an experimental, powerful and chaotic record that has a core of icy indifference and black-laden predictions of death and doom. Norwegian extreme metal stretches its tentacles over four decades, from the brutally aggressive to the avant-garde.
