Glass Beams live history
Glass Beams is an enigmatic masked trio from Melbourne, Australia, fronted by Indian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and producer Rajan Silva, who founded the project in 2020. They are known for their experimental, hypnotic, and jam-based sound, which blends traditional Indian music with psychedelic rock, Aussie surf rock, funk, and instrumental rock. The group performs in ornate gold masks, maintaining an elusive presence and focusing attention on the musical experience rather than individual identities. In recent endeavors, Glass Beams released their five-track EP "Mahal" in March 2024, which expanded on their distinctive style and reached #5 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and #13 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. The band has rapidly gained popularity, boasting sold-out shows, a growing social media presence, and over a million monthly listeners on Spotify. While the other members remain elusive, Rajan Silva was publicly identified as the founding member in a late 2023 interview with Rolling Stone India. They extensively toured their debut EP "Mirage" internationally throughout 2023, including a performance at the Magnetic Fields Festival in India. Looking ahead, Glass Beams has a 2025-2026 tour planned across the U.S. In 2025, they were recognized with the "Best Innovative Sound" award at the Global Music Awards and launched "Green Beats," an eco-friendly concert series, along with an interactive app called "GB Connect" to enhance fan engagement for their upcoming tours. They also collaborated with electronic artist DynaMo on "Pulse" and hip-hop artist Lila Case on "Mirror Maze" in 2025.
