I was told recently by someone in the music industry that "100,000 tracks are released every day of the week, with nearly 4000 of those from major record labels.” You’d have to be seriously naive to think a small independent band with no label attached would have even a sniff of a chance when up against the megabucks pumped into bands signed to a big label. So, what’s the point? If you’re a scrappy little terrier barking at the heels of a well-coiffed poodle, why bother? Here’s why: because the burning desire to create music doesn’t just disappear and die. It’s there, in the pit of your stomach: agitating, aggravating, nagging you to make the thing that makes sense. Art, words, music - whatever it is that helps you make sense of the situation you find yourself in. For Gaylips it’s music. So, on the 26th May 2023 there will be 100,001 tracks released into the world. Ours is called TABS. And it’s by us - GAYLIPS.
