Gåte is a Norwegian band from Trøndelag known for their captivating blend of Norwegian folk music with elements of rock, folk metal, and electronica, often referred to as progressive folk-rock. Led by the dynamic vocals of Gunnhild Sundli, alongside Magnus Børmark on guitar, Jon Even Schärer on drums, Mats Paulsen on bass, and John Stenersen on key harp, the band has carved a unique niche by interpreting traditional folk songs with a contemporary approach. In their latest endeavors, Gåte achieved significant national recognition by winning Melodi Grand Prix 2024 with their song "Ulveham," securing their spot to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden. The song "Ulveham" is based on an ancient Norwegian medieval ballad and quickly captivated audiences both in Norway and internationally. They successfully qualified for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2024, ultimately finishing 25th. The band had previously made a comeback in 2017 with the EP "Attersyn," followed by the album "Svevn" in 2018, and released a new music video for "Sannsiger" recently. They have also announced several tour dates extending into late 2024 and 2025, including concerts in the UK, various European cities, and festivals such as Copenhell 2025 and Nidarock 2025.
