About the artist

Fright Years is an indie rock band from Edinburgh, United Kingdom, known for their raw intensity and compelling, emotionally charged songs. Formed in early 2021, the four-piece band fuses indie rock with anthemic power pop, drawing inspiration from acts like Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their sound is characterized by gritty guitar riffs, pulsing basslines, forceful vocals, and a knack for creating epic, memorable choruses. Lead singer Jules Kelly's vocals are a centerpiece, shifting from intimate to soaring and anthemic, grounding each song in honesty and power. Fright Years has been steadily building a reputation for powerful live shows and a growing fanbase, receiving support from BBC Introducing, Radio X, Channel 4, and This Feeling. Their discography includes popular songs such as "Every Weekend," "Another Life," and "Warning Signs." In recent endeavors, Fright Years released their debut EP, 'Still Life', in early 2025, which featured Radio 1-backed singles "Stars," "Obstacles," and "Aftersun," along with "Do What You Wanna" (BBC Introducing Scotland's Track of the Week) and "Lie Down Forever." This EP speaks of life's highs and lows, transforming grief, survival, and identity into relatable anthems. The band has continued to release new music, with recent singles including "Evil" (January 2024), "Blue" (March 2024), "Stars" (October 2024), and "Wait For Nothing" (September 2025). "Stars" delves into finding peace amidst a terminal cancer diagnosis, while "Wait For Nothing" is about finding comfort in mortality and pursuing passions despite fear. "Blue" is described as a breakup anthem, embracing the end of a relationship with raw energy and an upbeat approach. "Evil" explores themes of romantic power imbalances and the intricacies of modern dating. Fright Years also has upcoming shows, including dates in London, Norwich, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Nottingham, and Birmingham in late 2025.
