Fräulein is a London-based alternative rock and grunge duo composed of Joni Samuels (vocals and guitar), who hails from Northern Ireland, and Karsten van der Tol (drums), from the Netherlands. Formed in 2018, they are known for their gritty, energetic sound, incorporating unorthodox time signatures and emotionally charged lyrics. Their music has been likened to artists such as PJ Harvey, and they are recognized for pushing the boundaries of what a two-piece band can achieve sonically. In their latest endeavors, Fräulein is set to release their mini-album, "Sink Or Swim," in June 2024. They recently offered a final preview of the upcoming album with their single "Pruning" in April 2024. Other recent releases include "Feels Like Flying," which features both day and night versions, and "The Last Drop." The duo collaborated with London-based Cosmorat on their new mini-album, which they regard as their strongest work to date, reflecting their evolved style and dedication to their craft. Fräulein is also recognized for their powerful live performances, which they consider a fundamental aspect of their identity as a band. Prior to "Sink Or Swim," they released two EPs, "A Small Taste" in 2022 and "Pedestal" in June 2023, through Submarine Cat Records.
