Flowers For The Dead is a Washington D.C.-based trio known for their modern take on '90s alternative rock, drawing comparisons to artists like PJ Harvey, The Breeders, and Sonic Youth, with elements of grunge and shoegaze. The band consists of guitarist/vocalist Jessie Szegö, bassist Ella Buskirk, and drummer Ten Bears (Ricky Martinez). Following their 2024 album *Magnolia*, which leaned into a noisier sound, the band released their EP *First Place* on August 1, 2025, showcasing a softer, more intentional sound and exploring themes of community, friendship, and love. They embarked on an East Coast/Midwest tour in anticipation of the EP, culminating in a hometown release show in D.C. on August 1, 2025. The band, formed in 2021 as an outlet for Szegö, has evolved into a collaborative threesome.
