About Esmeralda Road

Esmeralda Road is a Belfast-based indie-fusion band known for their genre-bending sound that blends elements of jazz, funk, and indie, drawing inspiration from the late 2010s London jazz scene and incorporating post-punk influences. Originally formed as a three-piece called Moonboot in 2021, the group expanded to a septet and rebranded due to a trademark conflict, taking their current name from a street where members once lived in London. The band, comprising Charlie Magill (vocals/guitar), Aodhan Moran (drums), Josh Vance (keyboard), Ben Murray (guitar), Calvin Wells (bass), Tony Cowan (trumpet), and Josh Baker (saxophone), has garnered significant acclaim, including winning the NI Music Prize in 2023 for their debut single "To U" and a second NI Music Prize for their 2024 single "I Think". Esmeralda Road is recognized for their energetic live shows and sharp songwriting, which have led to sold-out performances and support slots for prominent artists such as Liam Gallagher and Primal Scream. In recent endeavors, Esmeralda Road released several singles in 2024, including "I Think," "Esmeralda," and "Until I'm Gone," followed by "7 Tune" and "Park It" in 2025. They are set to open for Paul Weller's upcoming Fairview Park show and will join Brògeal as special guests for shows in Dublin and Belfast in May 2026. The band, who were also named BBC Introducing NI Artist of the Year winners in 2024, has new music on the horizon and plans to tour the UK and Ireland supporting Basht., ahead of their own ambitious headline tour later in 2026.
