About Drax Project

Drax Project is a New Zealand pop and R&B band known for their genre-bending sound that incorporates elements of jazz and hip-hop, stemming from their beginnings as jazz students. They are celebrated for their dynamic live performances and infectious energy. The band released a live album recorded at London's iconic Jazz Cafe at the end of 2024, capturing their raw energy and artistry. Drax Project recently completed a headline European tour in early 2024 and are planning another for May 2025, in addition to supporting George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic in Australia. They have upcoming summer shows scheduled in New Zealand for December 2024 and January 2025, with some events extending into early 2026. They recently dropped a Coke Studio collaboration single "Around U" with Peking Duk and Kita Alexander. In late 2025, the band discussed new music in the pipeline, including a song titled "Summer Rain," and plans for more releases and a return to touring in the United States in 2026. Their second studio album, "Upside," released in 2023, was recognized on Rolling Stone AU/NZ's Best New Zealand Albums of 2023 list.
