Dominique Fils-Aimé is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Montreal, celebrated for her powerful voice and engaged songwriting that navigates the genres of blues, jazz, and soul. Her artistic work profoundly explores the history of African-American musical culture, reflecting on the social realities that have shaped these genres. Fils-Aimé's discography is often organized into trilogies, with her first critically acclaimed series inspired by icons like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Etta James. Her latest album, "Our Roots Run Deep" (2023), garnered significant recognition, winning the 2024 JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and the 2024 Félix Award for Best Jazz Album at ADISQ. Looking ahead, Dominique Fils-Aimé is set to release "My World Is The Sun" in February 2026, which will be the second chapter of her sophomore trilogy, continuing her exploration of sonic, creative, and spiritual freedom.
