About Dom Brinkley

Dom Brinkley has been carving out his sound since stepping out as a solo artist in 2020, blending psychedelic folk, rock and blues with raw, unfiltered songwriting. His debut EP Moonlight Dream (2021) introduced listeners to his expressive, open-tuned acoustic style (akin to the likes of Donovan, Nick Drake, folksy Led Zeppelin and John Butler). In 2022, he shared a string of live recordings featuring his full band—mixing raw rock energy with jazz-influenced improvisation. These releases gained traction on community radio around Australia and showed off a more experimental side to his music. His follow-up, The Butterfly EP (2023), leaned into funk and soul, reflecting his evolving songwriting and love for arranging music. That same year, his earlier single Climate Blues (2020) was featured in environmental ethicist Wendy Sarkissian’s memoir, One Woman Sings the Climate Blues. In late 2024, after a move from Melbourne to the outback of Mparntwe/Alice Springs, Dom released his single ‘Australia’, a four minute odyssey dedicated to seeking healing and transformation in the vast Australian landscape; exploring how the concept of the Australian ‘bush’ both quietens and intensifies the mind.
