Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, is a highly influential Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter, widely recognized as the "King of Reggaeton" and a pivotal figure in popularizing reggaeton and Latin music globally. He is known for his infectious beats and energetic performances, with hit singles like "Gasolina" being credited for introducing reggaeton to a worldwide audience and making it a global phenomenon. After announcing his retirement in December 2023 following his "La Meta" tour, Daddy Yankee surprised fans by returning to music in 2025. This comeback ushered in what he calls "music with purpose," focusing on positive and uplifting songs. In 2024, he released several singles, including "Donante de Sangre," "Loveo," and "Bailando en la Lluvia." In January 2025, he released "En el Desierto" and, in July 2025, dropped the comeback single "Sonríele" under Hybe Latin America. He further released the album *Lamento en Baile* in October 2025. Daddy Yankee is also set to perform live from Puerto Rico for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2026 on December 31, 2025.
