Today's day and age is forever plunging forward into the future. Technology leads the landscape and the opportunities of tomorrow seem endless. But with every step forward, what do we risk to leave behind? Cars, film cameras, movie theaters, rock & roll, and even human interaction seem archaic in today's world. While I am gladly humbled to greet another day, I do not wish to lose the best aspects of what people consider to be the past. Some say anything Americana is over — let it go. But I believe to forget the past is to condemn the future. This next chapter started as a question: what happened to us? We are a people not united, but divided. Sick with the consumption of material goods and mountains of debt. We've lost the art of getting our hands dirty. We are glued to vanity on a screen. Sold who we're supposed to be. We don't trust our neighbors, nor the people in power. Isolated by nature and trade. That question turned into an idea. A creation made for the working class. Songs rooted in truth and scathed with frustration. For the people who still know the trades and the old ways — the forgotten. The carpenters, ditch diggers, masons, fisherman, truck drivers, patriots, bartenders, and janitors. Not a nursery rhyme printed off Music Row for fortunate sons. A creation that represents the people. We the people. -Colby Acuff
