About Ciao Ciao Marigold

Ciao Ciao Marigold is the NYC-based lo-fi psychedelic music project led by producer Mike Brun, known for a captivating blend of funky basslines, reverb-soaked synths, intricate guitar melodies, and vibey drum grooves that create a technicolor dreamscape of sound and animation. Often described as "stoned virtuosity," the project fuses musical craftsmanship with imaginative artistry, evoking the warmth of Khruangbin's funk, the whimsy of Studio Ghibli, and the laid-back euphoria of THC gummies. Since its debut in December 2022, Ciao Ciao Marigold has garnered millions of Spotify streams and a substantial social media following without initially performing live. Brun handles much of the writing, production, mixing, and instrumentation himself, collaborating with select NYC musicians and visual artist Hannah van der Weide, who contributes to the vibrant animated world that accompanies the music. The project recently released its highly anticipated album, "satsuma," in January 2025, with each track named after a different variety of orange, reflecting its global and genre-bending influences. "satsuma" has received critical acclaim, earning spots on Spotify's editorial playlists. Ciao Ciao Marigold is also expanding into live performances, having debuted its first concert on February 6, 2024, at Nublu 151 in New York City. Upcoming concerts include a show at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY, on August 25, 2026, and at Hootananny Brixton in London on September 1, 2026. The project is praised for its handcrafted approach, offering an antidote to algorithmic repetition in the lo-fi genre, with an immersive experience that fans describe as "technicolor chillness".Ciao Ciao Marigold is the NYC-based lo-fi psychedelic music project led by producer Mike Brun, known for a captivating blend of funky basslines, reverb-soaked synths, intricate guitar melodies, and vibey drum grooves that create a technicolor dreamscape of sound and animation.
