Caroline Shaw is a versatile American musician who seamlessly navigates various roles, genres, and mediums as a composer, violinist, vocalist, and producer. Often described as contemporary classical, postmodern, or experimental, her work transcends singular genre classifications, drawing inspiration from diverse eras and styles. She is a highly acclaimed artist, having received the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Music and multiple Grammy Awards. In recent endeavors, Shaw and the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth won a Grammy in February 2024 for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for their album "Rough Magic." Her album "Rectangles and Circumstance," a collaboration with Sō Percussion, was released in June 2024 and secured a 2025 Grammy for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. Caroline Shaw has also been appointed as Wigmore Hall's 2024-25 Composer in Residence. Furthermore, she composed the entirely original score for Ken Burns's two-part documentary, "LEONARDO da VINCI," released in October 2024. Her recent projects also include scores for television series such as "Fleishman is in Trouble" and "The Sky Is Everywhere," as well as vocal contributions to Rosalía's album "MOTOMAMI." She has various upcoming concerts scheduled for 2025.
