About the artist

Crunk

Brokencyde is an American hip hop group formed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2006. They are recognized as one of the founding groups in the crunkcore genre, which blends crunk hip hop with screamed vocals, electronic music, and pop elements. The current lineup consists of Michael "Mikl" Shea and Julian "Phat J" McLellan. While their music has often received negative critical reception, they maintained a dedicated fanbase, particularly among "scene" teenagers, and have been noted as an antecedent to hyperpop artists by some critics in recent years. Regarding their latest endeavors, Brokencyde released several singles and EPs in 2024, including "Used To Be," "Dont You Mention My Name feat Lil Lotus," "While It Lasted," "DTF," "Crunk God (feat. Fronzilla)," "Polaroid of My Heartbreak," and "Bounce". Their last full album, "0 to Brokencyde," was released in 2018. In 2022, it was announced that founding member Se7en had taken a leave from the group and Phat J returned to the lineup. Some discussions in online communities in late 2024 indicate that the band is still together and touring, despite past allegations that were proven false.
