Blanket Approval is a four-piece indie rock band from New York City, formed in late 2021. The band, consisting of singer/guitarist Jack Matteucci, drummer/singer Joey Hadden, bassist Max Mena, and keyboardist/guitarist Rahul Chakraborty, blends elements of heavier rock with tight melodies and groovy bass lines to create emotionally cathartic, fun, and lively songs. Their music has been compared to bands like The Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, Portugal. The Man, The Bee Gees, Iggy Pop, Parcels, and Queens of the Stone Age. Blanket Approval is set to release their debut album, "Heartbreak City," in February 2026. The album is described as a groovy, sing-along, nostalgic-yet-refreshing collection of 13 songs. They have recently released singles such as "POOR BOBBY" (December 2025) and "Berlin Blues" (September 2025). A significant endeavor for the band was receiving a songwriting credit on "Robot Voices" from Twenty One Pilots' #1 album, "Breach," in September 2025. Blanket Approval has played numerous high-energy shows throughout the East Coast and plans to embark on "The Heartbreak City Tour" in 2026, with the first part in Texas in January. They have also cultivated an online fanbase through viral shorts and playlisting, including Spotify's Fresh Finds Indie.
