Black Eyes is a Washington, D.C.-based band known for its intense and experimental sound, blending noise rock, post-hardcore, post-punk, experimental, and mathcore with elements of dub and free jazz. The group is notable for its percussion-heavy performances, often featuring two drummers, two bassists, two vocalists, and a guitarist, sometimes incorporating saxophone. Their music is characterized by chaotic energy, disjointed rhythms, abrasive wildness, and densely layered lyrical explorations of themes like trauma, masculinity, queer sexuality, and political landscapes. After initially existing from 2001 to 2004 and releasing two albums on Dischord Records, the band reunited in 2022-2023 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their debut album with reissues and live performances. Their latest endeavor is a new album titled "Hostile Design," set to be released on October 10, 2025, via Dischord Records, marking their first studio album in over two decades. They have already released a new song from this album, "Pestilence," and have further live dates scheduled for late 2025 and early 2026.
