Benny The Butcher is an American rapper and songwriter from Buffalo, New York, widely recognized as a torchbearer for street rap's renaissance and a prominent figure in the boom bap genre. He is known for his '90s-inspired, "grimy" and "gritty" hip hop, influenced by mafioso and drug dealing themes. As one-third of the acclaimed rap collective Griselda, alongside his cousins Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine, Benny's music often delves into his experiences as a young drug dealer, characterized by his exceptional storytelling and unfiltered lyricism. He also heads his own label, Black Soprano Family (BSF). In his latest endeavors, Benny The Butcher released his newest project, *Summertime Butch 2*, on July 16, 2025, to coincide with Buffalo's "716 Day." This 12-track project features collaborations with artists such as Westside Gunn, Bun B, Mike Will Made It, G Herbo, Bruiser Wolf, and Daringer. The release was accompanied by a new video for "East Side Butch Freestyle." This project followed his *Exxelsior EP*, which dropped in May 2025 and included features from Boldy James, Styles P, Harry Fraud, and his BSF family. His major label debut album, *Everybody Can't Go*, was released on Def Jam on January 26, 2024. Recent news has also addressed rumors of a clash with Conway The Machine in Paris, which were later debunked, and he appears to have mended his beef with Freddie Gibbs. He has also publicly expressed his belief that the "underground boom bap scene needs to evolve."
