Aukai live history
Aukai is the project name of German-American multi-instrumentalist and composer Markus Sieber, known for creating ambient acoustic soundscapes and cinematic tone poems that evoke a mystical, philosophical, and introspective nature. Born in East Germany, Sieber's musical journey has been significantly influenced by his travels, particularly to Mexico where he developed a love for the ronroco, a mandolin-like string instrument from the Andes which features prominently in his work. He draws inspiration from an itinerant life, encounters with different cultures, nature, and childhood memories, with a desire to create music that complements film, video, theatre, and visual arts. In recent endeavors, Aukai released his new album "Chambers" on March 3, 2026. He also released the album "Temporal" on November 1, 2024. Looking ahead, several singles are slated for release in 2025 and 2026, including "Slow Sun" (2025), "Aleteas" (2025), "Las Lluvias" (2025), "Vulture" (2025), "Raíces al Viento" (2026), "Get To Live Again" (2026), and "Yobue" (2026). In April 2024, his compositions were arranged into the "Vientos" EP for flute and keyboard ensemble by Tony Award-winning American composer Jamshied Sharifi, with whom he previously collaborated. Aukai began composing original scores for film and television in 2023, co-composing the score for the Netflix production "El Portal: La historia oculta de Zona Divas" in 2024 alongside cellist Clarice Jensen. He also has upcoming concerts scheduled for 2025 in Mallorca and Lisbon.
