AUA is an experimental duo from Germany, consisting of Henrik Eichmann and Fabian Bremer, known for their eclectic blend of krautrock-driven beats, Carpenter-esque arpeggios, and surf guitar sounds, often embedded within a darker, lo-fi pop aesthetic reminiscent of 1960s records. Their musical style also incorporates neo-psychedelia, alternative rock, motorik rhythms, analog synthesizers, and understated vocals, drawing comparisons to artists like Broadcast, Beak, Kraftwerk, and early Tame Impala. Their latest endeavor is the release of their album "Painkiller No. 1" in 2024, which concludes a trilogy of full-length records. This album, featuring collaborations with musicians such as Sally Brown and Jobst M. Feit, has been described as AUA's most sonically diverse and mature work to date. A single from the album, "Terminal," premiered in August 2024 and was noted for its more pop-focused sound. AUA writes and self-records their music in home studios and remote locations, and they have consistently collaborated with Belgrade-based artist Mihailo Kalabić for their surreal album artworks.
