Born and raised in West London, AREEJ was immersed in a rich tapestry of musical influences, stemming from her Moroccan and Sudanese heritage, introducing her to diverse realms of art and culture. Her unique, urban-infused jazz style was a product of a global music mosaic, notably shaped by classical Arabic melodies. At the age of 14, her vocal mentor detected the unique notes and scales in her singing, recognizing them as a reflection of her subconscious Arabic influences. Areej was inherently drawn to singers with distinct tones, recognising in them a path to her own uniqueness. Her fascination with soul music stemmed from its ability to encapsulate profound emotions and pain. Following the success of her highly praised EP, G.B.O.F, in 2022, Areej is making a comeback, preparing for the much-anticipated release of her upcoming singles in 2025. Collaborating with renowned producers Gideionite and Jaji, she is piecing together a fusion of new school jazz, soul, and hip-hop, promising timeless and invigorating tracks. Leading the way with her sultry and mesmerizing single, Areej has plenty of surprises in store for 2025 having found her perfect sonic niche.
