Altin Gün is an Amsterdam-based band renowned for their captivating fusion of Anatolian rock, psychedelic rock, and neo-psychedelic sounds with traditional Turkish folk music. They are celebrated for reinterpreting classic Turkish folk tunes with a vibrant, psychedelic edge, incorporating deep funk rhythms, wah-wah guitars, analogue organs, and the distinctive sound of the saz. The band earned a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best World Album" with their 2019 release, *Gece*. In their latest endeavors, Altin Gün announced a new studio album titled *Garip*, expected in spring 2026, with some sources indicating a February 20, 2026 release. This upcoming album is described as a return to their 1970s Anatolian folk-rock roots, emphasizing live instrumentation, vintage equipment, and spontaneous interplay, moving away from heavier synth production. *Garip* is also a tribute to the legendary Turkish composer Neşet Ertaş, featuring reimagined traditional Turkish folk songs. Their previous album, *Aşk*, was released on March 31, 2023, and marked a shift towards capturing their propulsive live performance energy. The band has an extensive "Garip releasetour" planned across Europe for spring 2026, with dates confirmed in numerous countries. Notably, vocalist Merve Daşdemir departed from the band after their Spring 2024 tour, and Altin Gün will continue as a five-piece.
