Akylas is a Greek singer and songwriter, born Akylas Mytilinaios in 1999 in Serres, Greece. He is known for his magnetic stage presence and emotionally driven sound, blending pop music with indie aesthetics and theatrical flair. Akylas proudly identifies as a queer artist, often highlighting themes of acceptance and self-love in his work. He draws inspiration from both Greek and international music, with his personal challenges and upbringing serving as major influences on his songwriting. Akylas's musical journey includes studying at the Music School of Serres and working as a singer on cruise ships, which he described as a "masterclass" for developing his vocal skills and stage confidence. He gained significant recognition after appearing on the eighth season of *The Voice of Greece* in 2021 and building a strong online presence through viral cover songs on platforms like TikTok. His original songs include "Fthinókrasso" (2021), "Ela Kontá," "Atelier" (2023), "Εξαίρεση" (2024), and "Taseis Fygis" (2024). Most recently, Akylas represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with his song "Ferto". The electro-pop track, released on February 15, 2026, combines traditional Greek music with techno sounds and explores themes of poverty and overconsumption, drawing from Akylas's own experiences. He performed "Ferto" during the first semi-final on May 12, 2026, and qualified for the final.
